Fuel pressure 12psi
My fuel pressure is running at 12 would like to get around 3 or 4 I heard you can cut the fuel pump spring any feedback would be great Corvair Forum mobile app

Yes you can try cutting the spring but I have found some of the newer pumps will not come down much. What I have done is swap in a spring from an old OEM AC Delco pump.

It's an ac delco pump I just don't know how much to cut and the spring is cone shaped may be a little from top and bottom

The "new" AC Delco pumps are NOT the same as the original AC Delco pumps. They are just like the Airtex or Spectra pumps.
When I said AC Delco, I meant one of the OEM original AC Delco or similar.

I wonder if there is a way to fatigue the new spring in one of the center coils?

Success so my original psi was actually 7 don't no why I put 12 anyways I cut two coils of the top that got me down 5 than I cut a quarter more iam at 3 1/2 now which is great because my venturi is not dribbling anymore still need to get these carbs rebuilt

Probably just need a float adjustment. So now when your driving at highway speed is the pump going to keep up with demand?

I hope so there is a lot of fuel coming out the line I was told that newer fuel could increase the pressure and I was running at 7 psi now iam in between 3 and 4 venturi is not dribbling float is set to spec carbs are a mess getting sent out for a rebuild
