Re: Finally finished......63' Spyder coupe

Thanks for the kind words on the car! Actually, the van in the background is not a Rampy, but in fact a 64' Ford Falcon Window van i am restoring for a friend. And that grandfather clock has a bit of history, not in age but in fact was a prop clock in the hit TV series "Smallville" and was in Lex ...

Re: Finally finished......63' Spyder coupe

I find it unacceptable to put less than perfect chrome onto a freshly painted car, and wasn't about to spend $$$$$ to replace, hense the satin black trim and bumpers. The front bumper was damaged in the centre which inspired cutting it down to "bumperettes". When i say "budget build", off course I'm ...

Re: New headlight switch problem.....help!

Ok, turns out the new switch is defective.....geez, you think you got a new part, then spend a day testing everything else! Bypassed everything and plugged the headlamps directly into the switch and it blew right away.....cleaned up the old switch and plugged it in....presto! Worked fine!

Re: Finally finished......63' Spyder coupe

The color was a fluke......bought a gallon of blue that looked like baby blue, hated it, so just started dumping in some black to darken it up and came up with this.

Re: New headlight switch problem.....help!

Thats odd that you found part #S415 on BWD website, cause i found, for the 60-63 cars, part #S414 is correct on various sites, which is what i have. Do you have a link to that site....BWD? I actually asked for the Standard Mfg part, which i believe is superior but wasn't in stock.

I spent hours ...

Finally finished......63' Spyder coupe

Came so close to finishing this project last fall but had to go out of town to work for the winter, but finally finished my 63' Spyder (except for small electrical prob, see tech section question). Anyway, hope you like it, turned out not too bad for a budget build.

New headlight switch problem.....help!

So, bought a brand new headlight switch (BWD brand) and installed, right away the headlights started to flicker and then die. Obviously the thermal breaker in the switch keeps blowing. My question, is this more likely to be a faulty/defective new switch or could there be another problem upstream ...

Re: '63 Spyder almost ready for paint

Sorry for the late reply Bigtwin....just got back from holidays in Arizona. The Clarks carpet fits awesome, my only advise to take your time cutting holes for gas pedal, heater outlets, seat bolts, etc. Measure twice, cut once! I took the gas pedal right off, cut the slit in the carpet, then bolted ...

Re: '63 Spyder almost ready for paint

Ok... Clark's carpet kit is in, also had this shifter boot kicking around out of a Ford Escape. Made a base plate out of 1" ply and carpeted it, painted the shifter itself and added the skull knob. IMO, looks better than that lame stock shifter....tacky, but kind of cool!

Re: Where do these pieces go?

Wow........that looks like it. I guess until the seats are in, you'd never know by looking where they'd go. I guess they deflect heat under the seat. Thank you Sir....much appreciated!

Re: Where do these pieces go?

Well, i have the louvered pieces for the floor heat (in the picture as well) inside rocker over the carpet. Where exactly do you mean?........I've been racking my brain for days trying to figure it out....is it possible they are not even for this car?

Re: '63 Spyder almost ready for paint

Well, as I do all my paint jobs, i like to remove hood, trunk, and doors and paint separately. As far as the louvers on the hood? It is more Spray gun technique than anything, basically adjust the HVLP gun to a fine spray and narrow pattern with very little paint and lots of air and keep spraying ...

Re: '63 Spyder almost ready for paint

I named the color "Superman Blue". I was the Picture Car Wrangler on the TV series "Smallville" (notice the Metropolis licence plate on the front?) and almost everything on the show had to be red, yellow and especially blue, including the cars. They used a similar shade of blue a lot on the show and ...

'63 Spyder almost ready for paint "Update"

Well, had to fly east for a family matter and haven't finished the car, but getting close. Heres a few more shots with the bumpers and some trim on. Now that its coming together, the satin black trim is growing on me but I especially love the black rocker moldings. Again, i can't bring myself to ...
