Re: Alternator swap?
Lane! Light bulb! No, I don't have a clock anymore. What I DO have, what I put in its place, is a voltage indicator. (See photo.) I'm using the clock's original power source for it. Could it be a draw? I never thought of it as drawing power, just reading it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qEg4dze-...

Re: Alternator swap?
More good comments fellas. Way to draw out information from me-- It's a three-wire internally regulated alternator. Talking Reading here and also talking with Craig in private messaging, I'm less convinced it's my alternator and more convinced it's a power leak issue. But I certainly do need the bat...

Re: Alternator swap?
Thanks, all. One of the things I love about Corvair guys is the way they will cheer you on in the hobby, but every now and then also pull you back from doing something really foolhardy. I am more than likely dealing with wiring issues. I'm always dealing with wiring issues. I have ordered a new batt...

Alternator swap?
Hey guys. I think it's pretty obvious I need a new alternator. I keep ruining batteries. So I'm going to get another battery but I think I need to change out my alternator for something else. Clarks and California Corvairs both sell a 65 amp alternator, but I think I need something more The one I ha...

Re: "Unsafe To Carry"
Thought I'd bring this subject back to point out that the new mid-engine Corvette has the same weight ratio as a Corvair Coupe--40% in the front, and 60% in the back. I wonder if it is similarly banned by U-haul? There are a few Memes out there that show the Corvette falling off garage lifts because...

Want to Trade for 1965-69 Heads. Offering 1964 Turbo Heads
I have two dirty but intact 1964 turbo heads that I received from a reputable Corvair guy, Caveman_1960, in Michigan. I got them with the intent of using them as replacements on my 1967 Powerglide 110 convertible. They aren't the exact heads of course but in general a Powerglide can take anything fr...

Re: MY ELECTRICAL HATES ME - REAR LIGHT POWER ISSUE
I've cataloged a lot of firsts in my life. Everything from Corvair issues to student loans to the plumbing to phone service to the wiring in my house. More often than not, I call up some customer service rep or get a technician over to the house, only to hear that familiar low whistle along with the...

Re: MY ELECTRICAL HATES ME - REAR LIGHT POWER ISSUE
Success!! Many thanks Joel and Brad for your clues, and thank you to Craig Niccol for walking me through fixing it over the phone. It was indeed the orange wire. That little devil splits into about six different directions, and the end that was plugged into the CLOCK was shorting inside the clock's ...

Re: MY ELECTRICAL HATES ME - REAR LIGHT POWER ISSUE
Thanks Brad, Joel. (Hi Joel!) I have spent hours on end printing and reprinting my schematic from the 1966 supplement, and then tracing things with colored pens. I know that the brown wire is most likely my problem, because when I do bridge my own power to it (through the main light switch multi-con...

MY ELECTRICAL HATES ME - REAR LIGHT POWER ISSUE
I am going nuts. I have been chasing a wiring/grounding issue for two months now. There is no power going to my rear lights as basic LIGHTS, but the flashers work and I have light when signaling a turn. The headlights work fine. I have tried to find out why, but am banging my head. Yes--the sockets ...

Re: Oil puke out dipstick
This sounds exactly like what is going on with me! My thing is, though I think my PCV is incorrectly installed, and I don't have the parts. Does anyone out there have a complete PCV setup I could use?

Re: Temp wiring
This is all great!
Now is there anyway to tell or see if the wire is connected or actually work with the temperature gauge without pulling out the entire front panel?
I did that once and it was hellacious awful. Not really looking forward to doing that again.

Re: Spyder/Corsa Cylinder Head Temp Gauge Thermistor
Well, there's this thing now. Came out in 2017---? I need a new thermistor and am considering it. NOTE--I haven't used it. Advanced Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor byVairtrix The CHT-100 is an advanced Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor for the Corvair Spyder and Corsa models. Designed as a direct re...

Re: "Unsafe To Carry"
Yeah, I hadn't shown up with the vehicle, and the lady running the counter was (really) 85 years old. She just looked at me and encouraged me to go ahead and give her another vehicle to list. So we used my wife's car. I was able to drop it off. https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/vp/551ece9abaf3ad16ba...
