Installing rear seat belts in an EM

Post by Nickshu »

Hi All,

So one of the big reasons I sold my 911 and replaced with the Corvair was that I can enjoy the car together with my spouse and two kids.

Spouse says no way to kids in the car until I install rear seat belts. :nono:

SOOO...who has done this and can give me a tutorial? I have heard there are factory "dimples" where you can drill and bolt them in but I pulled my rear seat bottom and I see no obvious "dimples". The car already has front seat belts which were a factory option.

Any help is appreciated....pics of your own installs are even more appreciated. :tu:

TIA!
Nick

Although this diagram is for a 1965, it might give you some ideas for your EM Corvair...

Nick...My wife said the same thing! No kids until seat belts are installed! My other car is a 911 Turbo and I go to track a lot. I bought the Corvair in hopes that it will prove more "family friendly"!

Same boat here. I had an 82 911SC coupe. It was really nice but spending track days by myself while wife at home with kids on a Saturday was not working out anymore. It was bad enough I was wrenching on it all the time too. At least with the Corvair after I wrench on it I can take the family for a drive. With the 911 even my 8 year old son's head hit the rear glass in the back seat. It was hard to sell it but I couldn't keep both.

I'll post some pics when I get to the rear seat belts. It might be a while as I just found a big gas leak at the fuel tank tonight. :td:
