The way we used to remove pushrod tubes was to use channel lock pliers. Place a rag in the jaws and just squeeze enough so it wont slip, not tight enough to dent the tube. Tap the pliers gently. Once the tube comes out, remove the O ring And slide it the rest of the way out.
If it aint broke, give me a minute

I've never seen the Clark's tool so I can't comment. Pics?

Some people have slit an old spare pushrod tube and use it on the back side of the outer tube area to push the stuck tube through the head.

A few pics posted here.

Might be a dumb question but is this for when the head is still connected?!? Mine fell right out when I took the head off........

Yes. Place tool on the tube so you can tap on the tool to push the tube out towards the outside.

Ok. Couldn't be clearer then their catalog illustration. See the hammer head with either tool type?

The pic brad posted of the Blue tool is mine I got from Dave Palmer who make's them, you slide the tool up like the picture and take a hammer handle and put it between the block and the arm on the tool and push slightly and the push rod tube pops right out! I use it every time I remove push rods and its a GREAT tool for Corvairs, Sorry Eddie But channel locks or vice grips should not be used! I have tossed so many bent tubes from people who did the channel lock method! Buy corventureDaves Tool!!

I used an old push rod tube to make a removal tool. It's a quick easy way to remove the tubes without bending then and it was FREE!
