front springs/spring rates

For my EM with mid-transverse V6-
The car has about 950-1000 lbs on the front tires, about 1400 on the rears.
The front suspension is more-or-less stock.
Whatever springs it has let it sit too close to the bumpers, so I want a bit more height.
But lower than stock, of course.
Any suggestions?
Early HDs, maybe cut a bit shorter?
