Corsa Turbo won't start ignition problem?

Hi,
Just recently I ordered a pertronix ignitor kit 1 1162A for my 65 Corsa turbo. I installed everything correctly, even the coil, I removed the resistor and yes I have a positive going to coil as well on positive and yes the wires are al hooked correctly. I changed the spark plugs and I did every other wire with new wires to see if that is the problem but its not. I am getting an arc when I pulled a plug an grounded it, also the battery is brand new. I seriously have ran out of ideas, I have tried using the old coil and everything, the car just will not fire..it doesn't pop or sound anything close to wanting to fire it just goes rrrrrrrrrr but no nothing any ideas because I'm completely out!

you said your getting an spark when you pulled a plug & grounded it - that means you have spark.
spray a little gas into the aircleaner or carb. if you have a can of *quick start* use that. if it starts then you know its something to do w/fuel. if it still wont start - check your wires. they should be on the cap in clock wise order 1/4/5/2/3/6.

even if the wires were mixed up if spark is any where near strong and fuel is there it would still spit not just turn over.

I hope you fed the Pertronix unit and the ignition coil a full 12v......I think that's probably one of the most common mistakes people make when installing these units.

Alright so we took the intake off and looked at the carb, everything is good there, now we went back to the distr because the little spark I was getting went away for some reason.. I will note that the only conclusion I can come. To now is that I filed the rotar to short and it's not touching the points. I filed it down so it would lock because when it's sitting on the magnet in the center, it is to tall to lock in place. Yes I am getting a full 12V, I even wired it straight to the battery at one point to give it a go. Anyone else think the filed rotar might be the problem?

Should not make a difference unless somehow it is down the shaft a lot more than stock...do not think that is possible really.
The rotor does not touch the points by the way. I assume you mean it is not close enuf or contacting in the cap. Make sure the center rotor contact up to the center of the cap is not squished, can be bent up slightly to be sure it contacts.

Yea that's what I mean, I didn't think it was close enough, do you think that could be the cause of it not getting spark?

If there is no flow thru the rotor the plugs will not get spark.

Can you post a pic of the part you filed down? I am not sure what parts you are talking about?

I think he filed a bit off the bottom of the rotor. Depending on wear and vertical stack and slop in the distributor, I have seen where the rotor will not fit down far enough over the shutter or pick-up of the electronic ignition (sits too high and will not engage the dist. shaft...hits the shutter or pick-up). I have filed the bottom off to get fit before...never had an issue with this as the rotor only slides down onto the shaft till it bottoms anyway.

Long story short, the power wire wasnt getting power while turning over at the fuse box. The test light showed it was getting power when te key was on but it want when I actually started to crank it. Now the problem I believe I'm having is the fuel. I'm getting fuel but I think after sitting for two weeks the premium pump with that stupid ethanol crap has done something to my car? I'm getting white smoke but the car isn't turnin over still, this is the first time it's actually fired in a while but it is gurgling not really turning over, but she wants to! Any suggestions? Is there something as far as a fuel treatment that would fix this? Everything seems to be in line, got fuel air and spark, now it's just the fine tuning I believe, thanks everyone who has commented so far, I appreciate the help

2 weeks sitting it not going to make a diff in the fuel. Could be timing way off. Plugs fouled from many start attempts. Too much or too little fuel. Weak spark. Sounds like you need a more practiced mechanic to have a look. Another set of eyes may see something you have overlooked.

Found the problem! So simple this is embarrassing to say! My friend had been telling me to make sure that the side of the distributor in which the wires from the ignition come out isn't to tight, so I didn't tighten the screw all the way... Turns out that was the problem this whole time!!!! So embarrassing. Got that tightened and adjusted timing and she purred like a kitten! Went to pull out of parking lot and realized

that my brake pedal was to the floor, cars running, but now I got no brakes! Always something!!!
