I need to get more pictures - maybe tomorrow. The car is a '68 that my father bought new in January of 1968. It is a 140/4speed with original HD suspension, quick steering and tele wheel. I just finished restoring it a year or so ago - Body, paint, interior. Next year I plan on building a motor for it. I've always wanted a Yenko but can't afford an original. This is as close as I'll get I guess. The color is the original Palomino Ivory but I added the black Yenko stripes. It had 14" wheels and hubcaps from a 1966 Impala SS. Current odometer is 267K miles!

Here is my newest Corvair it has a Toronado V8 kit. I traded my 68 Turbo as part of the deal, I really loved that car but it has always been a dream to own a V8 Corvair. I have big plans for it but I have it running and driving now and I will get everything working 100% as soon as possible. I am proud to own it and thankful to the builder and former owners. Along with the high Performance small block it has Wilwood disc brakes, shaved door handles and gas filler door along with many other custom touches. My plan is to subtly change the appearance with some semi flat accents, and possibly a wheel and tire change. Everything else I do will be performance oriented. Somewhere along the line the wood wheel was removed but it has a nice aftermarket wheel now. I also plan to get the air working. There is a back seat but it needs some finish work to be functional. I hope you like it and vote for my 66.

So far it looks like some really nice entries for the January Corvair of the Month!

:dontknow: To FL113Dave, I would like to suggest that you post some commentary and more pictures, including the interior and engine compartment of your Corvair. The "Yenko" front plate and paint job promotes curiosity, but also creates many unanswered questions in an entry with only one photograph and no comments. I like the paint job, though! I certainly would like to know more about the car and its owner!

A great start from good entries for the new year! :tu:

Well looks like I'll be the first early to enter this year. :EMs Rule: :neener:  I've done some up grades to the Spyder the last few months. I went to 15" rims, disc brakes and converted to 5 lug. I still haven't done the weber carb change yet but it's coming, hopefully a winter project. Here's some up dated pictures. Jeff

I've had Ralphie for 2 1/2 years. I bought him from my neighbor who had it for about 9 months. He never put it on the market. My first car was a red 64 Corvair Monza that I bought used in 66.

That is Ralphie. My neighbor bought him from someone who lived below Salisbury MD . The seller hadn't had him for too long and kept him in a barn. Ralphie barely made it back to Easton. My neighbor had never had a Corvair and decided he didn't like it and I had told him if he ever decided to sell it I could just roll it across the street. Since I have had Ralphie he has had carbs rebuilt, starter replaced, new gas pump, new modulator, transmission leak and oil leak fixed, complete tune up, new wires to alternator, new trombone exhaust pipes (Clark's Corvair Parts), new harmonic balancer (thank you Kenneth Hand), I also installed seat belts in the front, rear package area vinyl covered cardboard (Clarks) and the missing rear grill (California Corvairs) . The seats were completely rebuilt and upholstered by All Stitched Out Interiors in Preston MD. Ralphie drives great, doesn't leak any fluids and brings me joy every day.
Ralphie also came with a "Tub 'O Parts" and his original 13" wheels. I like the way the 14" wheels drive so am keeping them. The parts include another set of 63 tail lights (I guess a previous owner liked that year and wanted a spare set.) The emblem on front is from a 60. These always confuse people but Ralphie is a 64.

Yes, I remember it coming with a trunk full of spares, but I was told it ran perfect. I must have enquired about 20 or so before buying my present pile of junk :banghead:

They always "run perfect" when for sale but fixing them up the way you like is all part of the fun! At least when you finish you will know what you have. Always buy a car you love and you will never mind the time and $ spent in exchange for the joy of driving it. When I drive Ralphie I feel like a teenager again and that is priceless! I have made so many Corvair friends through his FB page and at the convention. Thank you for the picture of Ralphie to add to my collection. Have fun restoring yours and post some pictures.
