Went by to meet the local car club members. Was surprised that there were about 20 really pretty cars there. They're more active than I thought they would be. About 100 members and about 30-50 show up at the monthly meetings.

And now for the pictures...

Great Corvairs! I was trying to pick a favorite, but they all look great! I guess the Yenko Stinger (1966?) has to win because it not only looks great but because it is so unique!

I guess when you got hooked on Corvairs you really set the hook DEEP! Wait until you actually are driving one! I hope you decide to continue associating with the local club members. I bet they will love your new acquisition when you arrive back in Texas with it. Does the club have anything special planned for July?

Thanks for sharing the great pictures. :goodpost: :coolphotos: :woo:

Brad, Yes the hook was set hard, but then again, I don't usually do anything by half. When I'm hooked, I go all in! The local dallas crew were all very nice and quite knowledgable. They walked me around several of the cars, and introduced me around like an old friend. Nice! It's a way more active group than I might have suspecte by the initial email response. They have over 100 local members and their monthly meetings tend to get between 30-50 a month. They do a monthly "tech meeting" and usually some kind of monthly "event" too.

The interesting thing was that of all the cars that you see in the picture, only a couple didn't have A/C. There is a glut of "Vairs with Air" knowledge there so I'll likely have a lot of help when I go to put it in my car.

Scott, that '62 in the first pic is immaculate! Right down to the polished chrome engine bay prop. He evidently concorses that car so it's no wonder. Very original and the paint just GLEEMS

Mechanic58, You should contact them if you have stuff you want to sell or get rid of. They told me that one of their "missions" is to go around to estate sales, retiring shop owners or enthusiasts and liberate parts and cars so that the don't end up going to the land-fill or the crusher. A very worthy cause!

Mart, I didn't see any other cars with custom wheels. Most went back to factory wheel covers. As for how rare they are, I really don't know.

It was a great show with an awesome turnout. Can't wait to get mine out here so I can take part!
