Last night's episode may be the "curtain call" for the red 1962 Corvair Monza Spyder convertible that has been seen from time to time on the show. In the series, that Corvair is driven by the corrupt Las Vegas District Attorney. He is working for the Mob, sneaking skimmed money past federal investigators, using his Corvair Spyder as a "mule". He is also ripping-off the Mob, and in this episode, things are not going so well for him. With his apparent demise, our beloved Corvair Spyder may also disappear from future episodes...
The corrupt District Attorney pays a regular visit to the Mob-owned casino... Notice the classic Ford Thunderbird in the background? Classics make regular cameo appearances in this show... While inside the casino, his Corvair is loaded-up with skimmed money for the Mob... Notice the model year of the Corvair? 1962 was the first year for the Corvair Spyder... Fully loaded with Mob money, the Corvair Spyder "mule" is brought around for the District Attorney's departure -- right under the noses of the Feds... But the next day, at the DA's home, the police discover a crime scene and the DA is missing... Note the date on the desk calendar? 1962 Corvair Spyders won't be available for purchase for another 7-8 months! So how did this District Attorney get so lucky?? TELEVISION! Caught by the Mob boss, stealing money from the Mob, the corrupt DA attempts to shoot the Mob boss... The Mob boss isn't so happy about his actions... A SETUP!! The Mob boss had given the DA an unloaded pistol! And as the stunned DA realizes that the end is near, and his image blurs, we realize that his Corvair may not be seen again in this TV series...
