New to Forum

Post by rv6aaviator »

Hi guys,

New to forum. Used to have a 63 Monza 4 door that I restored 25 years ago and since sold. Have not had a corvair in 20 years.

Just picked up a 63 Monza Spyder Convertible. Nice solid driver. Painted in Monaco Blue, light blue interior, whit top, 4 speed. Numbers check out good on the drive trian. Supposed to have 35K miles on it but who knows.......

Looking forward to having fun tinkering and driving it.

Cheers. :)

Jeff

Hey Jeff.....welcome...again. ha ha That's a sweet ride! That sure looks black in the pic. I always thought that's a classy combo, the dark blue ext./light blue int. Reminds me of going to a Massachusetts yacht club, or sailboats, I dunno why.....

Thanks. The color combo was what did it for me. It's a nice "20 footer". It's not without some issues (who isn't after 50 years....) but its got a good foundation to work with. Plan is to get it back on the road reliably, have some fun driving it and then go in for a restoration.

:welcome2:
Welcome to the Corvair Forum! Like you, I had been away from Corvairs for some time (about eighteen years, in my case). I joined this forum in August after buying my tenth Corvair in June -- a 1966 Corsa convertible. I had sold my last Corvair in the early 1990s.

Your Spyder reminds me a lot of the 1963 Monza Spyder convertible that I owned as a teen in 1970-71. It was white with a black convertible top. What part of the country do you live in?

I live in North Carolina -- in western NC on Lake Chatuge, about 100 miles north of Atlanta. I have been involved with Corvairs since I was nine years old, when my parents bought our first Corvair -- a brand new 1961 Monza 2-door coupe, white on red with a 4-speed transmission. I currently own Corvair number ten, which I purchased last June. (If you want to read a brief personal biography that outlines my family background and our experiences with Corvairs, go to CORVAIR FORUM > Introductions > New from Lake Chatuge North Carolina. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4032)

So again, welcome to the Forum. I would love to hear more about you, your earlier Corvair experiences, you reasons for returning to Corvair ownership, and would love to see more pictures with details of your car. Are you a member of CORSA, and if not, do you plan to join?

You might want to check this next link to see if there are any local Corvair club chapters in your area. Attending meetings and meeting other Corvair owners in your area can be fun and helpful.

I hope you find a solution to the tuning and detonation problems you mentioned elsewhere on the Forum. There are quite a few Forum members who are very knowledgable with the turbocharged Corvair, so I'm betting they will be helpful in leading you to a solution. :tu:

Thanks Brad. Great looking ride! Love the color! I drove it for a few miles today doing some trouble shooting. Even though it's not running like it should, it sure felt good to drive her today.
