Gee, search yielded no answers!

Rebuilding a '60 generator for my '63 since it is the only good core I have. Everything matches up except the bearing is very tight going on the shaft. The old bearing was tight coming off also. Shaft is clean but I'm afraid to damage the bearing by pounding it on. Doesn't seem to be a different kit for the '60s, is this normal?

Need to add a sig...

Search?...yeah those are going to be lean for awhile.

I am no expert on Corvairs...yet. ;)
So I called the Prez. of our club who just restored a beautiful 60. He said to use emery cloth on the shaft, especially the end. The bearing should then go on easier but it still should be fairly snug.

Thanks, did just that and pushed with a pipe to protect the bearing. The last 10" gens I did were all loose on the shaft.

Kinda like the look of the 9" generator better anyway. Still puts out 13.8+ with lights and fan on. Thought it might be a little weaker.

Now there is something to search for. :)

Yay we have content now... :D Woo Hoo!

I'm glad you got it put together.
Here's a pic of the motor on Mike's 60. He did a nice job on it. (although when I took this it wasn't quite finished.)

I have two generators that I would be willing to send to you if you want to pay the shipping. Maybe you could get some good parts out of them?
