Changiing Wiper Arms and/or Blades

Post by kenshapiro2002 »

Feel stupid asking such a simple thing but I figured I'd ask before I take the wrong approach and start breaking/bending things. To adjust the angle of the wiper arms I assume there's a nut under the cover on the wiper? On every other old car I've had the end cap swivels up and there's a ut underneath securing the arm to the motor. Thing is I can not get the end to pop up. The car sat for 23 years so it may just be stubborn but I want to check before applying too much pressure.

Also...can't get the blade off. Does the spring tab compress (push in toward the arm), or expand (pry away from the arm)? I think it compresses but again...nothing is moving.

there is a spring loaded clip + you have to take the arm spring load off then you just lift off - the spline has a groove at the bottom that the clip goes into - there used to be a wiper arm removal pliers but it seams to be not longer made, clarks list it in error, they do not have it
i have been trying to get one for years, makes it easy to remove and align

same here - a wide bladed screwdriver and rotate screwdriver to pry off - again be careful of the paint

this is easier, pull the thin metal strip away slightlly (where the blade joins the arm) move the arm towards the strip, as if to bend the arm, this releases a little tit (english engineering term) and the two should pull apart. Sometimes a little wiggle (another english engineering term) is required if its stuck

Also of interest to any/all of you. I recently put 16" Rain X Fusion blades on my LM 66 Corsa and it's a perfect fit. It actually gets more of the windshield than the 15" did and don't hit any trim.
