Headliner Question.
HEADLINER QUESTION: I'm stripping out that sound deadening material right now that's adhered to the roof above where a headliner once resided in my car, and praying it's not asbestos (yeah...I'm being somewhat careful). At the ends there was a kind of cork material stapled to the metal (not sure what staples cork to metal). I say "was" because it too is coming out. Wondering if I can just glue the mew headliner to the metal or if I should try to reinstate something like the cork first. BTW, I'm going to replace the removed sound deadening stuff with a more modern sound and heat insulating material. The old stuff was only falling down and would have dirtied the new headliner from above anyway. Also, in the 4' section over the engine, my Lakewood had fiberglass insulation added between the headliner and the factory sound deadening material. Anybody know if that was factory or done by a PO?
