New from Cincinnati
New from Cincinnati
Hello, all. Short time lurker, long time Corvair fanatic from Cincinnati, Ohio. My mother and grandmother bought a new 1964 Corvair Monza convertible together. Every time we went to grandma's house, I HAD to see the car. Grandma passed away in 1984, about 2 years before I was old enough to drive, and the car was sold. I used to see it every once in a while, but no more.
Present day, I'm back on my kick of finding a '64 convertible in good shape. I'm hoping that this forum will help me get started.
I look forward to learning from you all........
Brad

Welcome Brad, good luck on your search. Check your local craigslist often too.

Welcome! I am seeing a number of the 64 'verts available. You didn't mention what you'd be looking to spend. Are you looking for a project car or something that's ready to drive?
Did you happen to have any of the information from your grandmothers car? The VIN perhaps. You never know it may be lurking out there still.

Hey Brad...welcome! Good luck in your hunt!
Re: New from Cincinnati
I might be able to find the VIN somewhere. The only reason I would try to find that specific 'vair would be purely for sentimental reasons.rindress wrote:Welcome! Other than that, I like the '64 vert, '65-'66 2 door hardtop, or possibly a '67 convertible. Don't know what to do yet, but I'm partial to the Early Models. Looking for something to drive home and clean up. Not a complete restoration.
Re: New from Cincinnati
Sounds like you haven't limited yourself so that's good. The reason to ask the for the VIN is you never know who out there on the forums might actually have the car

Re: New from Cincinnati
Thanks for the welcome, guys. I spotted a blue '64 convertible that was used as an everyday driver about 45 minutes north of me. I'm going to look at it this weekend. From the pics, it appears to be decent. The only thing that's bothering me about this 'Vair is that it does not have the chrome moldings in the fenders or on the rocker panels. Was the chrome package only available on certain models? Monza? Spyder? Here is the VIN# 40967w258777

Re: New from Cincinnati
Car looks good. Some people don't like those chrome moldings and they remove them and fill the holes. You can put them back on.

Re: New from Cincinnati
I'm also from Cincinnati (well West Harrison Indiana right on the Ohio Border). I grew up on the WEST side of Cincinati.
Did you buy the one you mentioned 45 minutes north? I haven't bought mine yet, daughter in college. It's worth it. I have my eye on a 62 4 speed coupe, white with Red interior (my favorite interior color not a huge fan of white) but I just haven't had the right combination of cash and him being completely willing to part with it yet. I'd love to see your car. Any idea if there is a Cincinnati Corvair club? I think there is but looking for forum members that know about the club.
Sorry to hijack your thread.

Nope. Didn't buy it. If I would have taken a drive up to Springboro, OH, I may have gone a little higher on my bid.RobErnst wrote:I'm also from Cincinnati (well West Harrison Indiana right on the Ohio Border). I grew up on the WEST side of Cincinati.
