Glove box door repair

The trim ring around my glove box door was coming loose on my EM, the little rivets broke. I tried JB Weld and Gorilla glue and nothing worked. Ended up taking the whole thing apart, grinding down all the rivets flush with the trim ring and with a drill press and a tiny drill bit, drilled holes for some sheet metal screws. seems to have worked just fine. The biggest pain was getting the spring back where it's supossed to go.

I cant get mine to spring open, You have to do the "push with your thumb and pull with a index finger" trick. Nice work!

I know what you mean....... that's exactly what started this little project.

Maybe quick, maybe easy, but cheap fix, I like those. My missing problem on my 65 is proving to be neither quick nor easy nor cheap to fix so far.

Why did you have to take the spring off?

Because the spring exerts the pressure on the trim that makes it bend. Leave the spring in place and the trim bends again. :td:

When I repair the glovebox doors I ad a rod that the spring presses against. It prevents the trim from bending and it also gives a bit more opening pressure.

Here is a link to how I did mine on the Spyder.
