Short throw shifter kit problems

I have 2 short-throw shifter kits that will not fit on my 66 Monza 4 speed. The extension part of the kit will not slide up the shifter far enough to allow the set screws to engage. The extensions will not fit over the larger ball on the shifter.

I installed a short throw kit on a 66 a few months ago and the extension fit over the larger ball on the shifter.

Clarks lists one kit that fits early and late, but were there ever different kits for early and late?

Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone modified an extension to make it work?

Both of my kits were purchased used from Corvair vendors.

Regards

As I recall there used to be 2 different kits and they were not interchangable for that reason.

Thanks for your answer! That's what I thought might be the case.

Well, I have 2 short-throw kits for Early Models for sale, and I need 1 for a Late Model.

Regards

Steve

If they're confirmed early model kits, message me. Dennis

Does anybody have pictures to show the differences EM vs LM short shifter kit???

I have one in a box of parts I bought years ago and do not know what it fits.

Thanks.

If the internal dimension is about 17/32 on the extension, it is for an EM and will not fit a LM.

If yours is for a LM, I would be interested in buying it.
