Thank you Sam, it is a beautiful car. Restoration was accomplished back in 2012 by a shop in Des Moines while the car was owned by Steve Davis. The story is documented in Corvair Style.

Are you happy with the sale? Where is the car headed?

Hi Sam, I am pleased with the sale, honestly hoped it would go a bit higher :)
I think the purchaser did well and that he has a little bit of built-in equity.
Funny thing is, the nice gentleman - Dave - who purchased lives 5 miles away and had viewed and driven the car prior to bidding! He is neighbors with several very good friends. I’m working to connect him with our local CORSA chapter Central Florida Corvair Club (I’m President)…
I provided complimentary delivery yesterday haha.
I think the BaT process/site, which I say is ‘entertainment that happens to sells cars’, seems to be a pretty good gauge of what the current market for a car is. I DO think that one needs to present a car well to get top dollar, which is why I use the “Plus” listing service which uses the BaT photography service Snappr.

rcavictor --- Good comments on BAT prices reflecting the market. Like a lot of old cars, the Corvair fits into the "middle class" buyer pool, not the investment grade range of higher priced cars. Probably good timing for you to sell now as a lot of folks I talk to (in the middle class buying range) are saying they "expect" prices on a lot of old cars to drop this year due to the economy. When folks think like that, it usually happens.
It will be interesting to see how the "investment grade" car prices hold up!
