Finally got the cash together for a luggage rack from Clark's, and find out they've discontinued it.
Does anyone have a a luggage rack lying around looking for a new home. PM me with condition, & price with shipping please.
Thank you
Larry

Would a rack from a 1st gen camaro (67-69) fit (either real close or exact? I know, I'm grasping at straws and the sharks are gathering...............)but want to cover all bases.

Take the measurements I posted in my post (posted below) and see what the difference is. Both have flat deck lids. You might want to look at mid 60s Chevy II and Nova luggage racks.
39"w x 22"d x 3-1/2"h (at rear rail). Rack mounting posting are 1-1/4" tall. Gives about 1-1/8" gap off lid. Mount posts are designed to wrap around the tube a little bit to give a good stable lock with the rack.
Forget 67 Chevy II - Measures 47-3/4" X 17-3/4" at the mounting points.
Forget Camaro. 67-68 samerack. 69 was different by part numbers. Aftermarket ones are ugly and big. OEM are elusive to find anywhere. You can see what it look like on the 1967 Camaro Indianapolis 500 Race Pace Car.

But if you got to have one, here is one believed to be a Camaro one. Get the dimensions from the seller before committing. I never even found that info.

Thanks Al. I saw that one for 7 bills. NO WAY! It's not that important to me, but knowing my wife she''d pay that $$. Gotta dissuade her somehow.

Tell her the that rack dimensions are wrong. Camaro has a different size trunk lid compared to the engine lid on the LM Vair. It also mounts differently. Find a photo of a luggage rack on a LM and use the Camaro photo I posted here to show her.
Here is your proof for the Camaro. You will have to measure the engine lid on your Vair.
Our lid length is suppoedly 32.3" and the Camaro lid length is 22'5. I can attest the trucklid is short sinceI own a 68 Camaro. So the short rack would be funny looking on a Vair.

Hopefully all the above suggested info convinces her.

The 1968-1972 Corvette luggage rack is about the same size and would probably work if one could be found.
When I first saw this post, I checked a couple Corvette vendors and found them listed but "Discontinued".
Keep your eyes open, patience is the key....

I found statements on Camaro forum and Camaro Research Group site that the Corvette and
Camaro were similar with the Corvette needing an adapter. This info I found makes it that both those racks don't have the width front to back like the Vair rack has.

I have this one. It is 33x26" backstop is 6". Comes with mounting bolts only no escutcheons. Has a few pits but should clean up with some steel wool. $100 plus shipping. How would you ship this thing?

Roger:
The Clarks one I had was shipped to me. The never installed luggage rack was being prepared for a USPS shipment to my buyer. We finally agreed to ship via my truck to Corvair Springfest. He would attend and pick it up. USPS TO ship was $140. Point to point was from South Georgia to Michigan.
