Grant steering wheel adapter

As a six year project nears completion (meaning probably a year or two left), I can not find an item that I want. A Grant steering wheel adapter for a 1964 Corvair Spyder. Clark's doesn't think Grant is interested in making any more, Corvair Ranch doesn't have one, California Corvair doesn't list one.
Is there any suggestions or work arounds? I sure would like a smaller, thicker rimmed steering wheel!

I thought Corvair and Nova shared the same spline pattern on the steering wheel.
If they do, you might have more luck looking for one listed for a Nova.
Hopefully others will chime in if I'm wrong.

If you can’t find the exact adapter, you might want to look into custom machining. Or try adapting a different model’s adapter with some modifications

AFAIK - in 1964 the Corvair got a steering box with a shaft all the way to the steering wheel. Probably to save money. Per Seth Emerson the light weight Corvair got a smaller than standard steering box shaft which resulted in the ODD BALL sized splined steering shaft at the steering wheel ONLY used on the Corvair in 64, 65, and 66 model years.
BTW -- Seth (Perf Corvair) makes adapters to mount other GM "sport" wheels to the 64, 65, 66 Corvair. What's odd is even though the late 65 and 66 models went back to a two piece steering shaft, Chevy kept the same steering wheel spline size - probably because they had steering wheels to use up.
Safety requirements resulted in a whole new collapsible steering column on the 67 model year Corvairs AND a return to the standard Chevy steering wheel spline shaft size. At least that is what I have read.

I would ask Seth at Performance Corvairs.

I carry a special 3-bolt steering wheel hub adapter that fits the 64 (and the 65-66) Corvair. It fits both styles by having mounting for both canceling cams. Most folks use it with the Grant Nostalgia series wheels. I have the adapters in stock. Email me at "

Thank you all for your response, especially "Scott H". I contacted Seth and purchased an adapter. Thank you Seth for the very quick shipping!
