New Master Cylinder for Zonker

Post by Phil Dally »

Master cylinder started leaking out of the bore.

Probably because of it not being driven enough.

Insert finger wag of your choice here. :nono: :nono:

M/C is 1" last year of drum/drum base Corvette.

7" Diaphragm is a Classic Performance Products.

CPP bracket is modified...support is fabricated.

I did learn brake fluid is soap & water soluble!!

Adding Summit vacuum can for braking length.

Have one last can of original GM trunk splatter.

Using brake line adapters rather than bushings.

M/C is 9/16 & 1/2 and residual valves are 3/8.

Should be done today, we hope fingers crossed.

Back together and I found the correct brake line adaptors.

No finished picture because it is too cold and wet to paint.

I will update when weather is more conducive to painting.

H/F Brake Bleeder review is okay...it works but it is slow!!

That HF bleeder is just a vacuum bleeder and I think it would be a lot simpler to just use a hand vacuum pump.
In most cases you still have to wrap the bleeder valve threads with tape to keep from sucking air past the threads.

I do like the looks of that auto-refill bottle. If it works as advertised and doesn't leak, it would save having to continuously checking the fluid level.

That is a beefy looking MC! Have you driven it with power booster? Curious how it will work out. Ken

Pedal was a little soft...did another bleed today and now the pedal is rock solid.
