Let's see them wheels
Let's see them wheels
Ok everyone, I'm looking to change the Corvair's shoes. I'm looking for 15" wheels, but let me see what you all got.

Here’s a few of mine.

Nice rides. The 16" are close to what I'm looking for, but I still think there is just a little too much rim and not enough rubber. Really nice looking though.

My tires are about 1" smaller diameter than stock. You could go with 16" and have more sidewall than I do. Most people will do 15's.

I had 13" slotted mags, which I really liked, but wanted bigger tires. I still would like to get a set of Cragar's.

I dunno... maybe I'm just old, and old-fashioned traditional. I like low-profile tires on 16" or 17" rims on Late Model Corvairs, but for me an EM just looks better with more traditional sizes. Some of the rims are so over-sized they look like wagon wheels to me!

Re: Let's see them wheels
We used to have a set of 13" Hands wheels on our family 1965 Corvair Corsa convertible in the late 1960s. They are VERY hard to find these days, I believe.
I was a teenager, and didn't have any idea of the value of those Hands wheels. I later repainted the Corsa from dark green to red, installed a new top, and a set of Ansen Sprint 14 x 7" wheels with Goodyear Polyglas E70 x 14 tires, We were in Massachusetts, stationed with the USAF at Hanscom AFB, near Boston. I was getting the Corsa ready to ship it to our next assignment near Ramstein Air Base, (West) Germany (near Kaiserslautern).

Pretty sure I am the only Corvair with Mooneyes discs.
But somebody recently ask me about where I got them.

I am partial to the Western Bullet Wheels.
By the way, The Greenbrier was previously owned by Clark Hartzel and Dick Ferreby many years ago.
The Van has 15X7 Wheels and the Convertible has 14X5-1/2 Wheels.

Re: Let's see them wheels
I lean towards a little larger wheel, here is my 65 with 17*7 rims. when the pic was taken I had all the cocktail shakers out of the car and a lot off the engine, so it will be a little lower when its all put together
