Corvair Forum

Just purchased a 1963 convertible and know virtually nothing about Corvairs except what I've read and researched prior to buying this car. My Corvair is definitely a project and I look forward to getting started. Thanks for all the information sharing.

Welcome, from the photos your car seems to be pretty solid. You’ll get a better sense as you clean it up and inspect each of the systems.

I’ve owned my Corvair about 2 years now and the people on this forum have been quite helpful. A lot of us do our own maintenance so have experiences we can share as you take on projects.

Good luck with your car, hope you get to enjoy it as much as I’m enjoying mine.

Hey, welcome. I'm rater new here myself, but I'm doing a '62 convertible. Of around 20 Corvairs I had back in the day, I never had an early model convertible, so I am learning a lot about them. Dennis

Thanks guys! Up front, I'm learning how much money it's going to take to get this right. I've been learning a lot as I go and I can't wait to get the power pack out and get that in proper shape.

I am mentally prepared that one day I’ll need to drop out the Powerpack but I’m going to delay that until some issue forces my hand. Only issue I’m experiencing is relatively high oil consumption (500 miles per quart). Car was driven very little for 30 years before I bought it. Engine has good compression and oil consumption has improved since I got it, who knows maybe the rings will loosen up, reseat or somehow stop oil as it is driven more.
