Is this original door cover?

I pulled the door panel off of my newly acquired 66 to clean and lubricate the window mechanism / tracks. I've seen plastic so many times I was surprised to see this multi-layer material underneath the door panel. It was held in place with a putty like substance that has long ago lost its adhesion.

Is this original or was it added somewhere along the way?

No that isn't the original backing material. The original material was more like tan butcher paper. Also it covered the entire door panel area.
