Brake master cylinder

Post by ss64II »

Hi
Whats the best brake master cylinder for a front disc brake conversion? I'm looking at the Dorman M89160 for the '69 Camaro but would be interested to see what else others are using.
Its for this 65 Monza below-

Have always used the later Corvair dual master cylinder with good results.
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.

Which disk brake conversion are you using? Scarebird? I'm also guessing that the DM cylinder from Clark's is for front/rear drum brakes only?

I have used Clark's front disc conversions in conjunction wioth the 67-69 dual master cylinders with no issues. If you are intending to put some monster calipers on the front brakes then perhaps a master cylinder with a larger reservoir for the fronts might be needed. For the( 80's cutlass??) calipers used in the Clarks conversion the standard later dual master is fine.

Hi
Im using Vauxhall Senator discs, hubs and calipers, 270mm discs, off the rear of the Vauxhall - I'm in the UK and the bearings for the Vauxhall hubs fit right on the GM spindle.
