Continued Build: The Blue Coffin 65 Corsa 140

Hey Corvairs!
140 Motor progress is done, and the sweet heap is in the driveway!
So begins the final phase of the build journey. The brakes are finished! The Procar seats and bracket sets are anxiously awaited. We cleaned four years of dust and grease from the interior and exterior. The garage needs to be cleaned.I have more parts to find around the garage and lean-to, too, to get busy on other stuff. My daughter Anca is a big help and excited about learning to drive a 4-speed! She helped bleed the brakes and was the "driver" being pushed out of the garage. I'm sure that she'll be a good sander too. We'll get it back in the garage this week for an alignment set-up, and gas tank work...when I have a filler neck and gas tank.
Another Corvair is being reborn!
My first long-ish road trip will be around the So Cal desert area to stir up some dust.

Understood ToyTron-
These Millennials who want self-driving-cars so that the machinery won't distract them from their I-phones are ruining the car culture!
My daughter and I installed one of the Procar bucket seats with Corvair sliders, worked out pretty good with the exception of one thru hole being pretty far off. She's shown sitting with the sliders all the way forward, hand ready on the four-speed shift lever so that she can imagine banging through the gears!
I can't wait to round a corner lifting a inside front tire off the road!

Comfort, most likely. At least the 65 seats were WAY better than the stock seats in my 68...hard as a rock.

Hey there 66CorsaGuy,
I'm very excited about these premium seats because they offer more support in a cushioned fashion. I'm old and ornery! But want driving comfort and they cost more than I paid for the whole car when I found it!

Ok yes just curious if it was comfort or safety or just aesthetic. Definitely no neck support in our original seats!!!! So I guess safety would be a reason to change also.

I drove my 65 Corvair up the driveway and back into my garage! It's the first time that its moved under its own power in decades. New gas-tank should arrive next week. That was the best 15ft drive ever!

Greetings Everyone,
I’m paying the CA DMV bill and mailing the paperwork this month! They want the car towed to an inspection site and all 1965 stuff must work to pass. It won’t be finished but it will be SAFE.
The front bumper was unsightly with peeling chrome and rust so industrial flat white paint went on.
If anyone asks, E-Brakes are important. Check that old box, sourced from Canada.

Good luck at the DMV.
Yes, a working Parking Brake is VERY, Important on a Corvair, especially if it is a PG. lol

Hi 66CorsaGuy-
This will be my first experience with a California auto inspection, but I hear that they are thorough. The criteria in my case is 1965, and I can't get the reverse lights working, but then again reverse lights were optional in 1965. We'll see... There is a e-brake, brake and lights check. A safety check? A general soundness evaluation. VIN checks. Glass. I'll know more afterwards. I have been warned by the DMV to have my car TOWED there. Don't let the DMV suspect that you actually drove it without their permission. I'll report back on my success or not!
Oh, and I'm giving up on my speedometer after removing the dash panel about four times now. New cable, removed speedometer, cleaned with contact cleaner, and it is not working.
