Has anyone ever tried to update windshield wiper motor with a newer faster motor. Current motor works but even on high speed is to slow for the Florida cloudbursts.

I have found the stock wiper motor to be fast enough - provided it is getting the full 12 volts (well, 14 actually, when the engine is running).

Almost every Corvair I have owned has benefited from upgrading the power from the engine compartment forward. The multipin connector at the front of the engine compartment is notorious for a poor connection, robbing everything up front from getting enough power. The fusebox is another place power can be lost, and are the connections at the ignition switch. I have replaced the #10 wire with something larger, bypassed the multipin connector, and was amazed at how much faster the wiper motor was, how much more air the heater blower pushed, and how much brighter the headlights were.

I would upgrade and repair wiring before I went to a different wiper motor.

Two things, first - rainx or similar product (works much better after 2 applications). Second, clean out the original wiper motor like I did

My wiper was so slow, I couldn't tell the difference between fast and slow - it was more like slow & slow

Also pull the wiper arms off then the cowl then lube up the wiper pivot shafts & linkage ends. That grease could be 50 years old and like a rock.

The connector at the engine bulkhead is notorious for dropping voltage. The connectors for the power wire are just adequate when clean and new, but after years the connectors corrode. Sometimes the connector gets hot and melts the plastic.

Another issue is the wiper motor grounds via the switch to run. Sometimes the switch doesn't ground well against the dash.

Bottom line - on fast the Corvair wipers should move fast enough.

About that power wire connector at the engine bulkhead. I remove the main power wires from each side of the connector and join them with an AGU fuse holder. Easy to do and you can install a 55 Amp AGU fuse to protect the car (some items on early Corvairs are NOT fused).
