Transmission keeps leaking

Hello everyone. I have an 65 Monza and have replaced the power glide transmission pan with a good Clark's finned one. I have replaced the pan gasket as well as the o-ring seal where cable enters transmission and the modulator and gasket. But the leak still continues. Could it be the cable? How would I be able to tell? Is there another gasket or o-ring that could be causing it? I don't want to drop the power glide and change all the gaskets and seals if I don't have to but, if I must then I must. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Key to solving leaks is to identify source of leak. Several steps may be needed

1. Thorough cleaning of the transmission, differential, bellhousing, lower engine and attaching hardware is needed. Zep brand cleaner has worked well for me, and is available at Home Depot and probably other similar stores.

2. With the car in the air or on jack stands, spray the chemical all over the area of the trans, diff and engine. Let it sit for a few minutes. Then Hose it off. If really really bad, might have to repeat the process a few times.

3. Take a lunch break, and let it dry.

4. Get under the car with a good light, have a friend start the car and run in thru the gears. Now the source of the leak should be visible.

Sometimes there is more than one leak.

Good Luck!

I had to put a new torque converter in mine this spring, hub was bad. Luckily there is a shop here owned by a guy who started in the 60's working on Corvairs & Pontiac Tempests but he retired & still owns the shop & comes in when they get something special that the other guys don't know anything about. Like Jerry says, clean it up good then you should be able to pinpoint the leak. Check the vent too, mine was plugged & building up pressure. Mine was also leaking fluid into the diffy, just a gasket for that but I had the diffy rebuilt too. Mine sat for 22 years and it had rust on the bearings. I cannot believe how much difference there is now, really quiet & the guy adjusted my low band & it shifts up & down real smoothe & kicks into low real quick if you get on it. :my02:
