Hi everyone. I am planning to add an electric choke from clarks this weekend. I am doing so per all the guidance I found in old threads. I will run a fused line 20a from the bat terminal on the generator to a new oil pressure switch PS64. My question is this and forgive me if I am wrong on what these are, the two metal tubes that are blocking access to the oil pressure switch. One I can remove completely as I see both ends and the other runs out of the engine so I would only have easy access to the one side. If I loosen and remove the ends of each of these a) will gas spill out continuosly? if so how do I avoid that, b) is it ok to flex these out of the way for the 10 minutes to get the switch off and new one on and torqued?
Thanks

Re: Adding electric choke fuel line question
Or would it be better/easier to just add a relay (is there a specific type) from the positive attached to the generator? In looking the ps64 looks like it has a longer stem

Re: Adding electric choke fuel line question
What's your source for wiring information? It doesn't add-up in my head. You shouldn't need an oil pressure switch for your choke - there's no safety aspect like there is with an electric fuel pump. A 20-amp wire is overkill by triple, and there's no "BAT" terminal on a generator; perhaps you meant to say "Alternator"?
Typically, an electric choke is simply wired to the ignition circuit (before the resistor wire) by tapping into the ignition circuit just forward of the multi cavity connector at the left front corner of the engine compartment.

Re: Adding electric choke fuel line question
Sorry yes I did mean alternator. The threads and the yh carborater book I have read about wiring say remove the one prong oil pressure switch replace with the 3 prong unit ps64 the oil pressure switch goes on the middle and functions as normal then you run a fused wire from the positive battery (or alternator i think would work also) the electric clutch positive plugs in the other side of the 3 prong. This way you are only heating up the choke when you have pressure/key turned.

Re: Adding electric choke fuel line question
This sounds easier. How can I identify the wire? What is the best way to tap? And does it need to be fused?cnicol wrote:Typically, an electric choke is simply wired to the ignition circuit (before the resistor wire) by tapping into the ignition circuit just forward of the multi cavity connector at the left front corner of the engine compartment.
