Helped to take of all the layers with paint on the driver side door.
Hung the door and after a little adjusting im getting satisfied with the gaps.
Sure they are going of for paint but needed to check If the doors needed welding/tweeking to get the gaps i want.

Massaging gaps for a truly nice fit does a lot for the look of the entire car!!

It's looking nice so far, you're going all out. I'd like to know more about those headlights though, I've never seen any like that. Can you tell a brand or model number?

I bought them at a Swap Meet in Sweden this summer and these headlights was in white boxes without any markings on them.
Cant find any marking on the lights itself either.
The dude that sold me these had a bunch of parts from Speedway Motors so i recon they are from them

Engine cleaning now and then, between other things.
Temporary engine looks really good. Ordered new gaskets for it and waiting for them.

Passenger side door down to the metal and this also and the bottom has been re-skinned at one point. 0.39 inch with bondo on this door at its most.......

Re: 1961 Chevrolet Corvair Project From Norway
LOL. I took a 3/4" out of a 1/4 panel recently over an area nearly 1 foot by 3 feet. Much better to move the metal around or replace steel if need be, with the idea to have any filler well under 1/4" (I prefer well under 1/8"). I like metalized or fiberglass based fillers as a base for any unavoidable slightly thicker spots (at or over1/4"). The seam looks pretty good all in all. It is very difficult to keep the center of the seam from caving and shrinking in when sectioning in across these doors. When you cut away the rusty lower part of the skin the part that remains on the door sinks 1-2" from its normal location without the rest of the skin to hold it in place. The best way I found to patch one of these like this is to use a spreader type porta power and a strip of steel tubing to support the seam from the inside while welding. Even with this on removal of the support it still wants to cave a little. The doors section of course much better up by the curve into the mid line, but, you will not see many sectioned there as availability of any or quality replacement steel has been poor at best.
Looks like your getting right along with it:)

Very nice! There's something really nice about working on a car that's all bare metal. Good idea with the deadline too.
