Weather drying things out a bit, and DST giving more time in the afternoon, so I am back at it!! Fabbed, and tacked in a galvanized panel, under the right side windshield drain hole, behind dash. (dash removed) This area was rusted through, and i thought galvanized to help with longevity. Gotta get this project sone this year.

Been gathering more parts for the chassis, and working on the engine build. Upon closer inspection, the built 140 heads i was planning on using (out of a buggy), took a beating, from something floating around the intake manifold, on the right side. #5 took the worst of it, but 3 and 1 were kindof marked up as well. I did some peening of the chambers, to lay things flat, and get rid of thin ridges in the quench landing...but i think ill have to do some welding on them, and slate them for rebuild later. I looked more thoroughly in the stash, and found a nice pair of 140's, that are disassembled, and will send them out to be refreshed. Bought some new 140 vlaves a little while back, and the other hardware is in good shape.

Woo Hoo! If I may make a suggestion, do not hammer directly on the metal, but use a "stake" of some variety to direct the force. It is MUCH easier to assure a correct strike that way. Just my .02

Good advice Steve!! Yes, i used a very small hammer for the force, and i had a hardened piece of 1/4" rod i used for a "stake". Ill post some pics soon. (sorry now, that i didnt take pictures of how they looked before) I didnt look like typical "pinging" marks, more like a small nut that was dropped in the intake. Maybe a carberettor securement nut...who knows.

Well...finally got around to mocking my shifter mech up. I am changing from a '66 4-speed to a '64-'65 FC 4-speed, in this car. I know about the trans length differences, and mocked everything up with the, newly aquired, '65 car trans support. First, im glad Mike Stillwell prompted me to do this, because i had forgotten much of how it came apart, and the assy. manual does not cover the shifter support to trans support/trans crossmember assy.
So...as i searched through my not-so-organized, organized disassembly parts, and mocked up the torque arms, WHICH I DIDNT NEED TO!!!! I got what was neccessary mocked up, and low and behold...the support rod that came with the '66 trans, fit perfect!!! (see pix) I guess, i can gleen from this experience: 1) stay on your project!! 2) KEEP BETTER ORGANIZED!!! 3) '66 car trans is same dimensions as '64/'65 FC trans...maybe????
You are all gonna laugh!!! When i moved everything and was tilting the car back up on its side...a FREAKING BAT flew out of the headliner insulation, still attached to the celing of car!!! AAAGGHHH!!!!! STAY ON YOUR PROJECTS!!!!!

Looks good! Are you replacing the stabilizer rod bushings? They look shot.

Thanks @GasDaddy140. Yes, today was just a mock up, to make sure i have the right length rod. I have been trying, in vain, to find a definitive database, that lists stabilizer rod lengths, and their respective vehicle/transmission applications. Went through all my cylinders and pistons, of my 140hp, .060 engine rebuild. Cylinders are on EXCELLENT condition, even tho they were in a performance buggy. Not too many hours on the engine, at all...and i think i lnow why. Here is pison #6. I can either buy a single piston and wrist pin, and assemble, or just replace #5 and #6 with matching std. setups, i have in the parts bin. Still thinking...

WOW!!! It has REALLY been too long. Since the last post, I have purchased a new set of Clark's permium cast +.06
0 pistons and rings and bearings. Have in shop, and am having to build up a swap engine for my daily driver, so I have a renewed energy level for getting this one going/closer to being done. Still contemplating who will do my head work, and gathering other info for transaxle rebuilding. Good thing there are no mice getting after my seats. Also, settling, with the wife, on a color to paint exterior and interior colors also.
Happy to see everyones projects and get motivated for mine again.
