I got some advice from Corvair Owners Group and i made a block off plate for the hot air intake.
Cilindar 5 is happy. ready for paint and install.
I also got my fuel and brake lines in house, so we will make some good progres again soon.

Soon the plate will be black with heat proof paint, but still be shiney.

The block off plate parts And installed At the moment i'm working on 2 things, the heater / fresh air system & the brake / gas lines

All the parts for the heat system Part by part back together (this one is almost done, the felt and the foam, and its done) and inch by inch the lines are on the Lakewood, thanks to the help of my best friend, always nice to work together on the Lakewood! Stay tuned, more and more to come!

We took the other lines out. I had bought nice stainless steel lines, but they are too hard to flare
So after 2 weeks of searching for tools, other workshop that could help me, I gave up and bought Cunifer lines. They look awesome too, little more red, but easy to work with.

Fuel lines out, and newly hand bend lines in. Perfect the way i want it.
Same with the brake line, step by step bend to fit.
And the connection to the front brake lines. We needed to drop the fuel tank to make and place the front brake lines. The fuel tank is out already, soon we start working on the front brake lines. Heater parts are done to and ready to go in when the lines are done.

Step by step it is getting closer to fire the engine up!

If i knew that, that is closeby where i live. 30 minute drive. I went to several custom hot rod car shows in Rosmalen (autotron).

Well more progress drilling holes in the body work for the back up light system. Figuring out all the electric for the engine bay.

The first result, we need a bigger drill for the center section
other part was bending and more bending, brake lines in the front. Lines are bent, time to find the correct grommets and rebuild the master brake cylinder. After that we can connect everything and tighten the "nuts and bolt". the car is so dirty of dust

There were some pretty weird lines to bend
Still waiting on my parts, package is somewhere... hopefully not lost. we are waiting on that to finish some of the last items in the engine bay.

More to come!

Back from vacation, time to work on the Lakewood again, we set a goal and hopefully i can make it!
Time to rebuild the master brake cylinder
All the parts, old parts and dirty parts
Nice new and clean parts, ready for the build up
I always lay everthing down like the exploded view drawings, a good check if i got all the parts or wich part i need to order for a replacement (in this setup 3 new parts are on the list, but all can we replaced when it is in place)
And there you have it, a fresh new brake padel en master cylinder
Time to connect the last brake lines to the this part!

The last brake lines are bent and placed in position. some pretty weird "corners" . This was a harder job than we thought, but we pulled it off!

The fuel tank back in place as well, what a lumpy gas tank. Happy it is back in place and gone from the workshop floor.
Beside the "stupid" gas tank we had some fun with the electric as well, figuring out how the electric works / back in position. We will try to "finish" this as soon as possible,but first WE NEED TO CLEAN UP THE WORKSHOP! it is a mess, so this weekend we start cleaning and from there go go go on the Lakewood.

Funny how as the work goes on the shop gets messier and messier:) I stop and clean when finding all the tools becomes too annoying!! Your wagon is going to be amazing.

True even the simple tools you had in your hands disappear. Cant find simple parts that i know i have and mess in my workshop is mess in my head!
Mess in my head means mistakes and frustration. But we pulled this off, time to clean and move on!

DOT5 fluid is a good idea since the system is vented and DOT3 and DOT4 are hygroscopic.

I got already a bottle at home to fill to system (i dont know how many there goes in the system)

The saga continues,

All small things, from new waterproof connectors
Electric fuel pump in place, ready to hook up the last connections between the gastank and the engine
Drilling bigger holes in the body for the back up light system
And a start on the noise canceling in the front, the noise killing material will be covered in the future
Just small things, but it goes forward
