One more just to far for me but, it looks to be an awesome deal!

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/c ... 66204.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I did send the seller a message and he reported to me:

"If you were going to "restore" this car, the main thing left would be fixing some rust spots, of which there are a few. Any worn suspension parts have been replaced, the brake system has been replaced, from master cylinder to brake shoes, including all wheel cylinders. The fuel system has been cleaned, including removal of gas tank for flushing and has new fuel pump. The engine starts and runs well, actually rather peppy. The four speed manual transmission is tight and the clutch seems good.

After two new tires and a front end alignment I would not be afraid to take it on a long trip."

Now why cant a car like that pop up closer to home... :banghead:
No stock parts were harmed during the on going restoration of this Corvair....ok, maybe a little bit.

That's pretty close to me and in my range - I'll have to inquire about this tomorrow!
1st one - 65 Monza Vert with power top and 110 with a 4 spd. Was a bit dilapidated but fun, 2nd was a 1965 Corvair Monza Convertible. PG - 1960 or 61 or 63 80 hp engine - we think...

Some pictures of that car in MN. Seems a lot of little rust poking out that to me indicates a lot more hidden. I figured I'd post these for others. Not sure if I'll make the trek up to MN or not for it. Just got these last night for this car - but was planning on looking at what appeared to be a nice one down by me but it ended up to be yet another one that slipped out of my hands.

Damn, thank you for following up, even with those bubbles she looks good. I hope someone gives this one a good home. Hard to judge with out hands on inspection but, this almost looks like just surface rust. Sure looks far, far better than what has been popping up around here as of late for a high cost vs this deal.
Awww the add is gone, looks like it sold.

This car is for sale again - http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/4546576629.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Emailed him and he gave me this response.

"The rust issues are not to bad really. The rockers do not need replacing. Rust in the trunk area is questionable, It has some small holes. Would be a quick fix.

The engine leaks oil. It runs very well. I had one guy interested in the car and he said it sounded good. No knocks or anything like that. Currently the engine starts and runs good. I've been told that it does need valve tube seals. The carburetor's could use a good cleaning.

The surface rust you see in the door jams shouldn't be a problem."

Maybe I'm seeing something different than him - the rockers look a bit questionable. Even for $2k - not sure if it's a project to take on - but figured I'd post it up again.

Not sure if this was smokin' or not.. was http://richmond.en.craigslist.org/cto/4551338266.html (until it is gone)

This nice lady in Greenville VA called me today to tell me she had sold. When I frist talked to her on the 19th, the vehicle was on stands, front and rear suspension out - engine disassembled. She reviewed the history - had been off the road for >10 years this way. She said it had 'light surface rust', a hole in the trunk - a new fuel tank, and 'a ton' of new parts in boxes from Clark's... 91K miles... She wanted $6500 for all - but she said today that she came down 'a little'..

Poor pix from the CL ad follow - Did anyone see it? Do we know who got it? Someone from the Carolina's...

So, did I let a good one slip through my fingers?

Not sure if a smoking deal. Very interesting ad of a long time corvair enthusiast who passed away, now widow offering up whole lot.
