Short of TV shows like Overhaulin', I have never seen 6 months make so much difference to a car. You developed and maintained some serious traction with this project.

Congratulations and 'TAKE THAT' HOA!

Continued luck with your project...

Bob - Thank you! I appreciate that. Still have a lot to do, but I try to make my progress constant at some level.

I spent the Christmas weekend pulling the 4.0L i6 from my 90 Cherokee. I blew the head gasket about 4 years ago and it has sat since (I had 4 jeeps at that time) I picked up a used engine about a year ago and have been doing a rebuild in my garage. It would have been faster but i found this Corvair..... Install of the rebuilt is this weekend. I have to get the Cherokee and motor out of the way so I can pull the Corvair Power Pack and have room to get that done!

I was able to order my Calif Personalized plates for the Corvair though!!

Hey Steve...any news on the FLD FND??? Also...do you have the link to your page outlining the rear spoiler kit you designed?? Do you have an order page for plans or whatever? Please advise.

Hey! I have been working on finishing up my Jeep Engine swap these last few weekends when I am not at work.

The TinTail site is http://www.TinTail.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The free instructions and plans are there as well as instructions on how to order one either cut out or cut out and formed by me.

Still waiting for the plates....

Found a local Glass guy that sold me a new windshield for $125 +$10 to deliver it Saturday morning. Not bad.
.....And they gave me spacer blocks after I asked about them.

Just set into place to check fit....

I got a second coat on Saturday am and then the third Sunday about noon. I added the stripes to the frunk Sunday evening (just had to see it). I will be adding the front drop stripes and doing the roof and the tail next week The plan is to then mask off the stripes and paint the final blue layer. That way they will be level for the final sand/polish.

I will be finishing up the fabrication of a "TinTail" to attach to the deck lid during the week. (That is why the dents are not removed in the deck lid)

Nice work Steve keep it up, you're an inspiration to a lot of us DIY's. Like you I'm not looking for a show car, but a dependable everyday car just like they were built for. I'm glad to know I can get new windshields, can you also get a new back window?

Well, I got the tail end finally re-assembled. Unfortunately I do not have any photos of the tail before I started working on it, but it was a mess. I had to straighten the lower panel and the body metal where they meet due to having been hit and torn 1/2 off. I bought a new chrome vent insert and poof! it all came together.

I was also able to put on the front and back window trim, but in the process of snapping on the lower trim I CRACKED my brand new front windshield...GRRRRRR (no pics of that, was too frustrated, just closed it up for the night) :banghead:

I was able to finish repainting the interior and I started to cut out the first of my new door panels. This is thin plywood the same width as the original cardboard. I will be cutting and stitching up the new fabric during the week.

Last update is I got the side windows all finished. Here are the rear quarters with one done, the other "as found"
