forgive me if i am wrong but in the picture of the battery/wiring job at firewall were the wires and battery cables go through there is no grommet

if there is not one get something even a piece of hose to wrap around the wires and cable or you will have the same problem happen it does not take long for the thin sheet metal firewall to eat a battery cable or hot wire i would not want you to go through all this again you did an excellant job on the car

Well son. Some of our talks were as if you were!!!!!!!

I told you so much and will have talked a ton. Bill called me to let me know of your new love is on the road. I got the call that sunday. Marty and his wife arrived here in Maine on that friday from Vegas and I informed him of the news. We went to the convention and now back . I also told Ray and Kevin. We were all routing for ya's and Bill was a blessing in your back yard.......

The corvair people are such a great group.....This thread has got to be one of the most heart warming threads of all ....Now take care of your chick magnet and take Jessi for a ride, Be Good. I will give you a shout some time today. So how about a great big pic next to the car grining from ear to ear. You be sure to keep in touch , this is a huge family with many birthdays......There for ya ,,,,, Crazy George

The car is running great! Bill is the man! I've been driving it around town for about a month and have had no fires or anything. I'm slowly getting over the fear and getting used to driving the car. People love it everywhere I go. Its so great. I love talking about it. Hope everyone is having a great summer!

You know, it really is! Hats off to all you great people who helped out Ed to make it happen! Now when onlookers see that scorched engine compartment lid, Ed will have an amazing story to tell.......of amazing people and twisting and turning of events!

Where've you been? We've had several local Corvair meets and people wondered if you would make it out. I hope you are still rocking around town with the top down.

Just found this thread and will be reading through more of it as time goes on . Hafta say you've done a great job on this car and commend you on sticking with it

It all would've been too discouraging to most . Kudos to all of the members here who have contributed time , knowledge and parts to this guy too

Its also good to see fresh meat coming into Vairdom too - most youngsters have no clue about these cars

Makes me wanna go out and take all of my sheet metal off now

Your car is looking great

Hey guys! I'm living in Tempe now and got a new temp job which is great but I'm doing 6 days a week and 8-13 hour days so it's a little crazy. It's going to be this way until January. Speaking of crazy, a wheel fell off the car on Saturday. That caught me by surprise a little bit. Here are some pics. Hopefully it's not too bad. The car started shaking and I thought the whole thing was going to fall apart in 1,000 pieces. My friends are starting to say it's cursed but I still like it a lot. It's a really good little car it's just going to take some time to get it somewhat reliable. I'll try to get some better pics on Thursday. Happy Thanksgiving guys!

Good news that life is treating you well (other than working long hours). The damage looks minimal and it seems like the wheel studs are okay. Did the lugs just back off or am I missing something in the photos. Did the wheel lug holes get trashed?

I had a long talk with me man ED last nite. He is bumming some..... On the surface, he bent up the rim and distroyed the tire... Dont know if much more. The brake drum does not appear to be crack , he needs to check the drum and brakes yet.. Not leakin any more oil than it did. Needs a valve cover gasket.... Money is tight but he will contact Bill. I told him that he could give Dave maybe a call as well to at lease keep in touch.... We will see about getting him back on the road...... CG

I assumed the tire/rim just came off and was okay. Bummer but I'm sure we can source the parts here simple enough. I might have a used 13" whitewall spare that would work but will have to check on that. I don't have any EM 4-lug rims since I'm a LM guy but those should be easy to find around here.
If you need to reach me Ed you have my number or shoot me a PM.
