My wife and I are tentatively planning a long vacation trip in our 1966 Corsa next summer, if we can sort-out all the plans, finances, etc. We plan on traveling from western North Carolina north to New England, and then west to Michigan for the CORSA Corvair convention there next summer. After that, we plan on continuing west to Utah to visit a lot of friends in the Salt Lake City area, and then on to Washington, British Columbia, Oregon and California. Our return journey will follow the length of Route 66 from Southern California to Illinois, and then finally back to North Carolina.
During my 24 year Air Force career my family and I travelled on three coast-to-coast trips across the USA in Corvairs, so this will not be our first trip across the USA. But those were one-way journeys over 3-4 day periods, and this will be much longer. We, and the Corvair, are also much older! (60 for my wife and I, and 46 for the Corvair). It will be something of a challenge, but it's now or never -- while we still can! So I am familiar with long automobile journeys in Corvairs. But this will be a gradual trip where we can take our time.
Glad you made it safely, and decided to give your Corvair some time off. Congratulations again on your Corvair of the Month win.
