Marcus's 1964 Monza
Re: Marcus's 1964 Monza
That’s a nice looking patch piece! Looks good . I’d feel better if you could patch the subframe with heavier steel. Maybe you can find a shop to bend the couple of pieces for you? Can’t cost that much…

Re: Marcus's 1964 Monza
Thanks! I spent a few hours on my car today but was disappointed to drive an hour to find out that the OXY filling station was closed. However I gotta plan to bend thicker metal at my school Monday for free, My shop in MET has a 50 Ton press and I think it should suffice . However I think I was going to use my metal copy as a template and try and make it in one piece out of 16 GA or thicker. (Ive also been sickly for the past week ish so not much of any updates, however I pressed out all bushings and refilled OXY tanks…80$ later.

Re: Marcus's 1964 Monza
Welll shittt mannnn more rust discovered on the passanger side front fender. The cause of it was about 3 LBS of rat nest however no rat to be found…yet. This is definitely an area you wanna checkout when buying a Corvair because my car was a POS parts car that ive been reving from the dead…
HOWEVER-Yes good news coming!!!
I have a repo panel from Corvair Ranch that I bought for 30$ when I was their soooo you could call me the luckiest man for now. I even sandblasted the fender patch panel on both sides(must of done last year) and there is NO rust on this panel and it covers exactly what I need.
Ill also be welding Monday (4/18) all the panels I have that are fitted and in place.

Re: Marcus's 1964 Monza
Update 4-18-22! I cut out and welded both front quarter panels and also grinded down the rocker panels fully to expose any rusted/roted material. Next I took a thin cutoff wheel (pnematic) and cut straight lines out what I needed to replace. I also welded 1/8in thick steel for my front framerail replacements.
I learned that if I try and butt weld everything at this point ill be spending more than my lifetime on this car without seeing it finished. So instead I butt weld exterior panels and lap weld framerails, floorpans, etc.
Im kinda all over the place working on the car in sections sooooo hope you guys dont mind LMAO.
Edit- IDK how to fix rotated photos so unless anyone knows good luck viewing them

Re: Marcus's 1964 Monza
I was walking around all day looking for any Barracudas and Corvairs and to my surprise I saw both! A 1965 (I think) Corvair and a 1972 Cuda. I found the Corvair at the very end pulling in just as I was about to leave of course and quickly snapped a picture of it, The guy who was driving had to of seen my “killer Corvair” shirt and he revved it and everything. Too bad I didn't get a good look at it as I was leaving.

Based n the trunk lid logo location and the front-end trim, this is a 1965 Corvair Corsa coupe...
I retouched the photo image to give us a better look at the shirt...

Little bit of bondo for the FT quater panels and same with the rear. Bondo smells dam good! I also prepped my floor to be seam sealed and painted underneath and on top.

Re: Marcus's 1964 Monza
Sanded both Ft quarter panels, im guessing one more layer of bondo should do the trick. I used 2 tubes of seam sealer for the floorpans and i will need ALOT more. I also recived my front coil springs, upper a arm bumper stop, upper a arm shafts x2, Shim kits for upper aarm x2, and stablizer bushing set. Im waiting on my bushings for the front and they should come through the mail in less than a week so I can put together my front suspension.
