I've been slowly removing items and old seals. Removed the tunnel pan then removed all the linkage and cables. Removed the blower motor housing. then rolled back the wire harness from the engine compartment forward.

The door seals and the trunk seals were brittle and mostly turned to small bits and dust. The engine deck lid seal was another story. I started using a 1/4 wood chisel and a screwdriver; progress was on the order of one inch every 10 minutes. Then I got the idea to dissolve the contact cement with acetone. Worked great and I had the seal out and the channel cleaned in 5 minutes. HOWEVER, acetone will strip paint as well, so if you try this only do it if you have plans of stripping and repainting. I used a squeeze bottle like the old mustard bottles and squirted the acetone as i lifted the seal. Pulling slowly, the onld seal came out easily.
