Re: Weird Stuff I Found in the Garage
Any thoughts on the loose clutch cover friction surface / iron insert, the orange bushings, or the K&N chemicals from 94)?

99) Door Hinges
Are these for an FC?
100) Cable Assembly
Is this for a parking brake?

101) Brackets
Found these in one of the crates full of generators. I have (6) of the first, and (1) of the second.
Are these generator supports?

I ANSWERED, BUT MY POST DISAPPEARED -- SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM LATELY!!!!Rotary FP46 wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 10:39 am 99) Door Hinges

Door Hinges (Long) R1U2S0 01.jpg
Not a door hinge. It looks like a LM trunk lid hinge (maybe EM).
Re: Weird Stuff I Found in the Garage
The hinge is for a front deck lid, don't know if early or late.

Victim 1 is a generator tail mount.
Victim 2 is a shift tube stabilizer mount for a 66-9 shifter. The 65 has a dimple for a ball swivel instead of just a hole.

Re: Weird Stuff I Found in the Garage
I agree, EXCEPT the 1965 had no adjustment for the rod at the bracket. The 66-69 got the swivel ball rod and of course the rod is shorter to fit the 66-69 "Saginaw" transmission support that was revised for the longer Saginaw. At least that is what the books say.
See pic - BOTTOM is longer 65 rod with simple flange and nut (you had to bend rod to line up shifter tube with transmission - not the best process at the factory.
TOP has swivel shoulder on bracket to move shorter rod before the nut is tightened.

Re: Weird Stuff I Found in the Garage
99 is the left hood hinge for a 65 to 69 car (the springs ride in that roller and are inboard of the hinge). If it looks aluminum or pot metal cast it is 65 to 66. The later ones seem more steel.
Early hood hinges are pressed steel, U shaped in the cross section.

102) Another Bracket
Looks sort of like the generator bracket above, but longer and with allowance for a third fastener.
103) Formed Steel Line
Photographing this was a bit weird. Had to leave a bunch of items in the shot to provide a sense of scale. Not sure whether it is Corvair or something V8. Is it familiar to any of you?
104) EM Dash Panel
I can see that it has a PG shifter built in, but don't know whether it came out of a car or out of a truck - or what year.
105 and 106) EM Dash Panels
Spyder dashes, I'm assuming. Not sure whether there were minute differences from year to year, or where these fall along that timeline.
107) Accessory Pod?

Re: Weird Stuff I Found in the Garage
Differential appears to be '65 (possibly '64) and later Corvette:

108) Worn Metallic Brake Shoes
These don't look quite like the Velvetouch shoes that are here. Not sure I've seen photos of this lining pattern in my travels.
109) LM Front Spindles
Was there any variation in LM front spindles?

Re: Weird Stuff I Found in the Garage
104 is a 60 dash
105 the 62 Spyder dashes had concave lenses for the gauges and the brushed finishes is slightly different. I would guess that the top one is a 62 and the lower is a 63-64.

110) Porsche Induction System
Not sure what to make of this being here.
Has anyone ever adapted a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system to a Corvair?

Re: Weird Stuff I Found in the Garage
I do not recall #103 on any Corvair, as it looks larger in diameter than the 1/4" front to rear brake line on some models. Of course then there are the FCs....
But I still don't think they use larger than 1/4" (OD) on any brake lines.

111) Odd Air Cleaner Assemblies
Found in the last uncatalogued file cabinet. Filter housings are vented. Not sure whether this was a commercial product, or something homegrown. I know my father did not make the modifications.

Re: Weird Stuff I Found in the Garage
The odd air cleaners are highly coveted to work on a 140 in a FC or Lakewood with low clearance. It takes a lot of work to fabricate them.
I don't see what you mean about pressure plate friction surfaces. The heavier ones are also made out of better nodular cast iron.
