Rocker Heater Duct Replacement

Post by SeamusNZ »

Hi from New Zealand,

I am now at the final stages of rebuilding my '62 Spyder convertible.

My next job is to replace the heater ducts that run through each rocker and provide air to the wind-screen defroster etc.

The existing duct which was rotted out has been removed but I am stumped at how to install the new ducting. Given that it is a convertible the front deflector box can't be removed and there doesn't seem to be enough room to thread the 3inch duct in from the front end.

At the rear end, under the rear seat, there is even less gap to install the new duct. I am also unsure as to how long the duct pipe actually is. It appears that convertible ducts may not run the entire length of the rocker??

Any help with completing this job would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards....

HI again from New Zealand,

I figured it out. You need to remove the metal duct under the rear seat. You can then fix the new duct to the metal fitting and feed it into the rocker. Easy...

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards....
