Re: Happy St Patrick's Day
Interesting bit of info regarding St. Patrick's Day. I was told a story from my grandmother (born 1898 d 2001) who was told the story by her grandmother from Ardara, co. Donegal.
The day after St. Patrick's Day was called Sheila's (sp?) day. It was a vehemently anti Catholic bigoted Protestant day usually with bad weather sent to blow away the goodwill created by Saint Patrick's Day. The Irish responded by drinking whiskey with shamrocks in the glass.
