Re: Video of my 66 corsa
Man, even the 235/50-15 tires are damn near difficult to find. You could go 205/50-15 all day and find tires.
I've been going through all the sizes that would work with 15" wheels and they are far an few in between.

Even a large firm like the Tire Rack only lists a single tire in that size, and it is for racing only!

I have tried several different places with a few different tire sizes that will work with the 15x8 wheels and they are not available either.bbodie52 wrote:Even a large firm like the Tire Rack only lists a single tire in that size, and it is for racing only!

Re: Video of my 66 corsa
While 15 inch performance tires are getting scarcer as the rage is now 19+ inch wheels, there will continue to be a strong market for 15 inch performance tires for theforeseeable future as 15 inch is the largest diameter allowed for most first and second generation Miatas for SCCA SOLO I/II autocross. Depending on class either 195/50 R15 or 205/50 R15 are the widest allowed. Because of this the tread widths of the 195's have magically grown - The new set of BFGoodrich Sport Comp 2 195/50 R15's I put on last year have a wider tread than the Toyo Proxes T1-R 215/45 R15's they replaced. It's become an arms race to see who can make the tire with the widest tread allowed by the rules (195 or 205 mm section width).
While the number of Corvairs on the road is going down (and the number being driven enough to require frequent tire replacement is even fewer), there have been over a million Miatas built. While the 15 inch tire went away as the standard tire size in 2005, there were over half a million built with 14 or 15 inch wheels, many of which are still driven daily. That market power is our friend in keeping smaller diameter performance tires in production. The Miata market also ensures that there will be R compound (DOT legal race tires) available in these sizes as well.

@ptr
The problem isn't less Corvairs since the stock Corvair size are 13". There were many cars that used 40 and 50 series 15" tires with 235-255 section width and since most of those cars are far and few in between, there is no reason for the tire companies to keep producing them.

Re: Video of my 66 corsa
I just looked that there is a few tires in the 225/60-15 range. According to Bryan Blackwells page, that size should work fine.
