1962 Rampside in Nova Scotia.

Post by Bluenoser »

Hi there, I'm looking at '62 Rampside which is for sale 2 1/2 hours away from where I live. I've been watching out for one and trying to get an idea of what this one is worth by comparison. I have not looked at it yet so I don't really know the condition (rust wise). It's a California vehicle and according to the owner, is solid except for the ramp door.
The price is firm at $7500.00. CAD which is $5800.00 US. which seems high to me, but the cost of finding one (probably in the States) and shipping it here plus transferring the title and paying duty etc. has to be considered I think.
The engine is seized, but I have a 110 power train with a PG from a '65 Monza which could be installed?
The title is good and has been registered here in the owner name. There is a lot of interest judging by the number of visits to the ad.
I'd like to have your input on this. Thanks in advance.

Seems like a lot of money for a restoration project with a bum engine (although his ad says 'engine turns but does not run' which isn't quite the same as seized)

Maybe I've underestimated the popularity of rampsides, but I thought you could get a project truck in the $3K range.

Thanks Jim, I've been looking at too many ads. Not seized.

True! I never went to look at it, but left it with him to call me if/when the price was more reasonable.

It's not a rampside, but I just bought a running, driving 63 panel 95 for less than $1000 US. I'd leave that one alone until his head is out of the clouds.
