starting on the interior rebuild.

I am making the door panel boards out of 3/32 plywood.

here is the blue vinyl I am using for the doors and the seats
20160504_201112-640x360.jpg
here is the rear quarter pattern I made, it's working well so far
20160504_200938-640x360.jpg
this is a "mock-up" of the minimal plan I am going for, the black area will be cloth quilted inserts mimicking the original pattern
20160505_072111-640x360 - Solid Stripe.jpg
if the quilting tests and cloth to vinyl tests go well, then I will be doing this to mimic the Yenko stripe on the car itself

I was out working on the Corvair this Sunday and a really cool neighbor drove up and asked I would be there for a while. I said sure, and he took off with a grin.. about 10 minutes later he showed up and said, " I found this while cleaning my garage and though you might be able to clean it up and make some use of it."

(Backstory: This super cool gentleman used to work at the Oakland factory and was part of the Corvair assembly process...)
HECK YEA!!! once the motor is rebuilt this will be VERY useful.

Nice score. That looks one of the good, older ones. Current production is terrible. Lucky guy!

Says "UNI-SYN MOD A" and it does not say TAIWAN on it... says "Foreign patents pending" with US Patent #2 858 697

Hey Steve, how is that Napa brand rust conversion spray you used holding up??? Im looking into a good spray to help with my undercarriage, before i paint it. Maybe use por15 or other...but dont want to make it a crazy drawn out process.

Nice. Ended up using Corroseal myself. Pretty nice stuff and easy cleanup.

Well, yesterday we moved the Jeep to the front of the driveway, moved the Corvair to the back by the garage, did the upper disconnects

Today, we pull the power pack!!!
