hello cowboys!
I live in the U.K and own a 1964 coupe that's fairly rusty - the front seats fell through the floor its that bad.....
corvairs are thin on the ground over here, ive only ever seen one other and have never seen a running, driving one - spares are none existent, so I have quite a project!
ive got the clarks pans and am modifying them to fit, and am in the process of remaking the two front seat risers (its a bench seat) and the part of the floor that's not covered by the clarks pans.
however
what I would like is some photos of the rear seat riser, partially where it joins the rear floor,
also photos of the rear corners of the rear seat risers (where the clarks pans go into the corners)
id also like photos from underneath looking at the area where the heater intersect with the inner sills and the rear seat riser
I'm not going for factory perfection, but I would like it to look nice when its done
many thanks

Indeed. Welcome. I have a sedan and my floors are very bad in the rear. On the sedan there's also a cross member I have to section in.

Re: floor photos required
thank you all
my problem is that the clark floor pans sit above the rear seat riser (for easy fitment for people who are lucky only to have a small amount of rust repairs!) - i was trying to work out what the factory floor looked like and how the rear seat riser for the bench seat mounted - what set me wondering was that the 'cats paw' seat reinforcers had a step which looked as if the cross member i had made was wrong, ive now worked out that the pressing underneath must have accommodated this extra height
I'm using a floor repair section from another vehicle to make the part that goes between the clarks floors, so i have had to be a little imaginative, it doesn't help that the part i had left looked like it had been on the Titanic..... the only thing holding my floor in was the gear rod and the handbrake cable.....
nearly all the photos i have found on google are for convertibles or cars with bucket seats - i guess the poor old 500's are worth so little people just past them by!
will start a project thread and put some pictures up so you can all have a laugh!

Hi Guru - where abouts are you in the UK? Theres a guy with a mint early model in farnham. There actually are quite a few Corvairs in the UK now. There are three in my town alone although we are probably an exception to the rule !!
Im in hertfordshire.

I'm in Yorkshire, and thank you for your kind offer, but my floor is now finished to the rear seat cross member.
I'm now into all the mess that is the bit under the rear seat and the chassis rails.

Ok, well done and let me know if you need any help, advice or parts, I've got lots here although mainly engine and service bits. I also have a lot of used but still serviceable bits that I've replaced like brake shoes, etc.
You have a great clean sheet to start with there, that's really the good thing about starting with a bit of a dog. You can build it how you want. As it has already been bagged, are you going to make it a bit of a kustom? Personally I love the lowrider look :-)

Wow. Yorkshire looks like a lovely spot! Thanks for the photos.
Also: We had a 300E W123 in a similar colour for 17 years; one of the best cars I've ever owned.

Yes, Yorkshire is very nice, something around every corner, especially the north, Agree about the Merc, my 190E is a great car, I should sell it to make room, but I just cant part with it. It will be a while before the corvair graces the scenery, but its not changed for centuries...so no hurrycnicol wrote:"I love Yorkshire...but then, I am biased"
