Of those, I like the orange over black.

Re: Paint ideas
I had the same scheme planned for my Mustang but decided it was too trendy. You know how dated 70s metalflake, 80s rainbow stripes, and 90s pastel-painted bumpers look? That'll look just as dated in a few years, I think it already does actually. It's your car so it's all about what you like but it's something to keep in mind in case you plan on selling the car in the future.

Re: Paint ideas
I can fully see your point on dated paint schemes. My in laws pink 47 chevy truck was cool in the 80's and 90's, but is just...pink today. I dont think a simple two tone however fits that dated paint category. The classic two tone using basic colors is forever cool.

Re: Paint ideas
I was also considering the classic two-tone paint scheme for my car. I'm still not sure what I will do. As far as color combos go...I like the blue/white and the orange /black except I'd do the top of the car in black.

Ya, not sure about doing two tones. Thinking about going all red with black rims.

Re: Paint ideas
I ain't feelin' it on those 3 paint schemes.....I'm more of a "pearl guy". I'm not against stripes, but they've gotta be different and special, not the usual type.
Re: Paint ideas
Two tone has been around for a while but the colors and where they are separated have always changed. The hard line separation like the examples above are very recent trends. Go to a car show in the last few years and it's always the same sea of beltline-separated black/blue/silver/green/white/red/orange 2 tone combos. Personally I like black top with red bottom and that's way too common these days.JohnnyCorvair wrote:The classic two tone using basic colors is forever cool.
Re: Paint ideas
This car showed up at our Tech day. I thought it looked pretty good.

Re: Paint ideas
I like the classic two tone paint schemes. Done well they can really enhance the overall look of the car. Done poorly though and it can be a disaster. I like using the belt line as the breaking line with a small graphic or pin stripe between the colors. Gotta be careful which colors you use as it can make a car look very top heavy.

Re: Paint ideas
my personal opinion on paint schemes...is to do a nice gloss black main color, with flat black ghost flames coming off from the hood to the sides of the car..looks really nice..(Hope ya got AC..or like driving with all the windows down..lol)
I happened to see a car on here..a prostreet modified corvair..rocking the flat black and gloss black designs from the hood, and down the front fenders..now that my friend IMO....IS AWESOME...
But then again, im a ratrod fan and i like being unique..its all up to you..why not come up with something original..
"It isnt the things we do the same, but the things that make us stand out that shows individuality.."
lemme know what you decide, im sure it will look rockin regardless!

Re: Paint ideas
I think I have made a choice, what do you guys think? Oh ya, since this is a V-8, am going to have two scoops cut into hood (front) for air flow and have them painted in black.

Re: Paint ideas
IMHO - I prefer simple paint schemes - a racing stripe or maybe something like the black accents on a Sprint are about all I'd consider for my own car.
Some paint schemes can ruin the good lines on a Vair . The newer cars need the fancy paint to stand out among all of the other "Cookie Cutter" cars out there .

Re: Paint ideas
ya, was considering just going red with black on hood scoops. Pic above is what I was thinking with the two tone. Picture below shows what type scoops.
