Re: ENTER- Corvair of the Month August 2015
I would like to offer my 1969 Monza Convertible for consideration for August 2015! About the car: It is #4974, a 140hp 4sp Convertible w/ almost 51,000 original miles. It has been repainted once to the original Dusk Blue exterior, sports a white top and blue interior. It was originally purchased in CT and then made it's way to OH (see Map below!), over to Wisconsin and now proudly resides back on the East Coast on Long Island. The car is completely original except for a re-spray (in 1995 I think), and when I took delivery last May it had the original 13" wheels w/ wire hubcaps and WW tires. The tires, original wheels and "sport" hubcaps exist in storage in my garage. The only change I have made is an upgrade to 14" American Racing Turbo Thrust wheels and 195/70 R14 tires that have vastly improved ride and handling, especially since I drive the car many days per week, even in the winter. When the car arrived we rebuilt the carbs, sealed a vacuum leak and replaced the brakes. Everything on the car functions perfectly except for the gas gauge and clock, both slated for repair this year. While there are a few very minor scratches in the paint and chrome I am told this is a 5 foot car, and have no immediate plans to repaint or refinish it; I like the as-is character this near daily-driver car proudly wears. It turns heads and strikes up conversations from owners of beaters to high-end vehicles daily, and puts a smile on everyone's face including kids everywhere. I've enjoyed meeting people, making new (Corvair) friends and learning the mechanics of this car, but more than anything else zooming around town with the top down. The only thing I don't have is a name for it. Suggestions welcome, along with your consideration for COM August 2015! Thank you!

Re: ENTER- Corvair of the Month August 2015
Pathfinder - that is a beauty, but I'm gonna throw down some competition.
Although my car is not complete (are they ever?) I have been a fateful participant and poster on this forum for the last year. Last November, I found my vehicle, a 66 Corsa in Yuma AZ, thanks to the SearchTempest tool I learned about on this forum. I started looking for a classic project over 18 months ago when I noticed a 1962 Ranchero for sale down the street. I could not believe the price they were requesting and began to research classics…
As I studied and learned more, I began to dial into Corvairs. Being a 32 year GM veteran – working in Service – I gained an appreciation for this creation of Ed Cole’s. This is an engineer’s vehicle with so many firsts – I had learned what I wanted, I only had to find one…
So, my car re-entered the world of the driving on July 3rd and on July 22 I will be showing it in the GM Employee car show – regardless of the state of completion. The Brakes, Steering, Front Suspension and fuel deliver are done – as is the instrument cluster, shift, clutch and throttle controls. Yet to do this season is tuning (although it is running fairly well!), water testing, sound proofing and installation of the rest of the interior. For a thorough review of our journey, see my build thread at viewtopic.php?f=52&t=9082 .
Now for some shots of the vehicle.
I’ll post more photos later this month taken at the General Motors Technical Center – the location of her creation!
Thanks for your consideration…

May I present Miss Eydie Gorvair, my '65 500 Sport Sedan. She's equipped with a 95 h.p. engine and Powerglide. With only 85,000 original miles, she runs smooth and leaks not at all! I've had her about a month and drive her almost every day. She never fails to make me smile

Re: ENTER- Corvair of the Month August 2015
As promised, today I attended the GM Employee Car Show in Warren MI - Arrived before dawn and pulled out the SLR Digital Camera and tripod to take some bracketed exposure images. This was one of the best shows I have ever attended with over 900 vehicles on display! This is the first with my Corsa. The sun was just rising when these were taken. I used a trial version of "Photomatx" HDR processing software to combine the bracketed images into a High Dynamic Range image. Because this is a trial, all of the following have the "Photomatix" watermark.
I hope these images throw me some more votes!

Re: VOTE - Corvair of the Month August 2015
it would help if there were more than one picture of each entry. Once shot from one angle makes it kinds rough to "judge" the car. Just sayin..

Pathfinder and Bob, you both have some really nice looking corvairs. Unfortunately, I only get one vote and since I'm partial to both convertibles, and Corsas I'll keep my vote to myself. Good luck to you both.

Wow. These are all beautiful cars and all truly worthy of the this - or any month's title. That said and in the spirit of things, I also realize that I neglected to include pics of the trunk and engine bay, so....
See top post for original pics and comments.
Thanks again for considering my ride... And good luck to all Entrants.
