How many Corvairs have you owned?

Post by turnert7696 »

Just out of curiosity, how many Corvairs has everyone owned? I'm only on my first, but most people I run into currently have, or have had multiples in the past. Feel free to posts pictures as well if you have them.

I've probably had over 60 in total since the early 80's. I have nine right now, four of which are drivers that are registered and insured.

I also was hooked on 95-99 Eclipses and 95-98 Talons for a while and owned 17 of them in just over 5 years. I'm back down to just one Turbo Eclipse Spyder as recent Corvair purchases have taken up my storage space.

Including parts cars, I have owned roughly 20 Corvairs since 1973. I think the most at any one time was four.
At the moment I own five vehicles but only one Corvair. I am also storing a 95 Van for a friend so there are six vehicles on my property.

The most I have owned at once is 25 most were parts cars but the titles were in my name. I probably have owned over 100 different Corvairs over the years, some reasonably unique. I currently have 4, 1969 not stock, 1968 Ultra Van, 1965 Monza, and a 1965 Yenko YS-318.

Just 1 for me so far. My 63 Corvan convinced me to take my first vacation in over 8 years to get it back on the road. :)

Just 3 and still have them. 63 coupe, 68 coupe and 69 convert. All 110 with powerglides looking for front fenders for the 69. Or 65 to 67 and I could install the marker lights.

8 for me:
1966 Monza coupe, 95HP, PG bought on Feb. 28, 1985 while I was in college for $1,050. His name was "Arthur". Great looking car, but the engine got cooked and died two weeks later. Met Mike McKeel who picked me up off the side of the road and got my car going again. I always remember that car fondly despite the rough start.
1965 Corsa, 140HP - fixed it up to make lots of money to help pay for college. It didn't.
1965 Monza parts car - used to help the Corsa (Owned all three of these Corvairs at once for about a month. That's my record.)
1967 Monza convertible, 110HP, 4-speed, power top, blue, got me around to work and back for a few years, perhaps 1987-1990.
1965 Monza convertible, 110HP, 4-speed, brown with custom cloth interior we made. I won the Stock 3 Autocross at the CORSA in Albuquerque with this car. 1992-2000.

Then a Corvair gap happened.

1966 Corsa convertible, 140HP, A/C, Danube Blue w/ Black interior. Gorgeous. He was dubbed "Zorro". Bought from Ken Clark in 2012. Talked into selling it later that year.
1966 Corsa convertible, 180HP, positraction, telescoping steering, luggage rack, AM/FM, full tinted windows, power top, bumper guards, etc. "Tux" is Tuxedo Black with white interior and white top. Bought in 2013. Had it at the Knoxville Convention two weeks ago. Won the Econorun for the Turbo Class. Yeah!
1965 Corsa coupe, 140HP, undocumented Sprint with quick ratio steering, Sprint shift knob, Sprint emblem on rear spoiler, trombone exhausts. Bought in April 2015. Getting refurbished for autocrossing by my 16 year old son and I. Should be lots of fun when finished. Perhaps will show up in Springfield next year along with Tux.
