I got my modified air cleaner back today from the chrome shop. Very pleased with the finish, it's hard to believe that this thing is 50 years old. Jeff

I got my alcohol/meth tank back today. I still need to have a couple openings put in. I plan on painting it yellow to match the engine compartment. I'm going to use a Turbo Start battery on the tank. Jeff

Such a great post! I had all the same questions. The one piece I am missing in the info provided is what lb rating am looking for in a wastegate? I have the exact setup as the OP. 10lb? I wasn't planning on running bug juice.. but if it is hugely helpful and requires tapping in a basic nossle maybe. What is the upper bung tapped for in the original picture? o2 sensor that works with the electronic timing??
I can teach anyone willing to learn the wrong way to do anything!

Brian, from what I understand on the wastegate's they come with different spring rates for different pressures, you can change your pressure just by changing the spring "I think". As for the nozzle I'm going to have an 1/8" pipe thread bung welded in on the turbo housing. The O2 sensor is for a wideband to measure the air/fuel ratio for tuning the carb. Jeff

Wideband sensor I have, http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/db.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Uh-o, LC-2 schlockiness....

Ask anyone who's had one for a while, I haven't met one yet who would buy another. At least, not with their own money! lol

I have an LC2 on my car and it has been great. I have put over 2k miles on it with no issues and I drive my car hard. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
AEM and Autometer and FAST all have wide band kits now so you do not have to stick with one brand. There are also DIY kits as described on the old DIY EFI site.

Depending on whose waste gate you buy will determine whether it will come with springs. Turbonetics will not. I have a Tial MVR 44 on my car and it comes with a large assortment of springs. I just helped install a pair of Precisions on a Porsche 996 turbo today and they too come with the springs. I edited this to correct previous info.

Notched - guess my last question didn't post. Do you know how that slip joint was made? Just using a pipe expander I hope and use like a 3" overlap?

We did it using different ID to OD pipe. But you could use a pipe expander. The fit on mine is pretty tight at ambient temperature. You have to work the pipes together and apart. When they are hot you won't be able to budge them so you definitely want to make sure they are not falling apart loose.

I'm building a air cleaner like you did, but I doubt it will be as nice as yours. I was wondering where you got the tubes from.

This will be a very valuable thread if I decide to build my turbo engine instead of selling it.
