Cordial Greetings,
On my '66 Corsa, the orientation of the turn signal lever doesn't seem correct. In the neutral position, it is angled down about 15 or 20 degrees. (Sorry, I have the steering column apart at the moment, so I can't get an exact measurement.) Looking at some pictures, it seems the lever should be horizontal when in neutral. Can anybody confirm this?
And if it should be horizontal, how can it be adjusted? It looks like I'd have to clock the entire outer mast (shroud?) of the steering column. This doesn't seem possible, as the outer mast appears to be spotwelded to the plate where the column passes through the firewall (or whatever it's called in a rear-engine car...) To further muddy the waters, on the bottom of the mast, the indent for the wiring harness looks to be centered directly on the bottom. I'm about ready to to just bend the lever, but I've also noticed the turn cancelling action also seems offset to the left.
This car has the non-telescopic steering column. The upper mast bracket (at the bottom lip of the dash) is a separate piece.
Thanks for any help,
Karl

'66 Corsa Turn Signal Lever Orientation?
Re: '66 Corsa Turn Signal Lever Orientation?
The turn signal lever is held on with a screw. If the holder that the lever fits into is cracked then the alignment will be off.

Mines angled down a bit. Worked on a 66 4dr last week, it too was at a angle.

Thanks. Apparently what I have is normal. Looking at of the pieces in front of me, there is no adjustment. The angle just looked funky to me.
Thanks Again,
Karl
Re: '66 Corsa Turn Signal Lever Orientation?
If the hole in the column shroud for the turn-signal lever is at that degree, such that the lever is center in the hole when in the neutral position, then I guess it's normal...My two '65s had levers that were dead horizontal and the '66 was slightly lower than horizontal but not much. I've seen some at shows that point to the armrest on the door!
